Bikulege and Knight Named CoSIDA Academic All-America

Senior running back Luke Bikulege (Greer, S.C./St. Joseph's Catholic) and junior defensive back Sean Knight (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team were honored with first team selections to the 2020-21 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Division III Football Team.

84 Carnegie Mellon Football Players Recognized on PAC Academic Honor Roll

The Carnegie Mellon University football team landed 84 members on the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Academic Honor Roll for the 2020-21 academic year. For the seventh consecutive season, the Tartans had the most football players honored amongst the 11 schools that sponsor football in the PAC. Of the 84, 34 maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during the playing semester.

Senior offensive lineman Sean Pogorelc (Centreville, Va./Chantilly) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team was named First Team D3football.com All-America while senior running back Luke Bikulege (Greer, S.C./St. Joseph's Catholic) and sophomore punter Casey Jaeb (San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine Prep) were named to the D3football.com All-South team.

The Carnegie Mellon University football team had nine members named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Football Team on Thursday after having eight receive the honor each of the previous two seasons. To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve and maintain a GPA of 3.3 or better.

The Carnegie Mellon University football team had 15 members earn All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) distinction, announced by the conference office following voting by the league coaches on Wednesday. The Tartans place four on the first team and six on the second team while four were tabbed honorable mention with one named to the sportsmanship team.

The Carnegie Mellon University football team defeated the Golden Tornadoes of Geneva College Friday night, 20-7, in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) contest on the turf at Gesling Stadium. The win marked the 11th straight for the Tartans over Geneva and moves their overall record to 2-1, 1-1, while Geneva is now 0-3, 0-2.

The Carnegie Mellon University football program swept the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) weekly honors following a 51-0 win at Waynesburg University Thursday, April 1. Junior wide receiver Ben Armbrester (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Eastern) was recognized on the offensive side, junior corner back Sean Knight (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) on the defensive side, sophomore placekicker Hayden Hairston (Milton, Ga./Milton) on special teams and freshman quarterback Ben Mills (The Woodland, Texas/Woodlands) received the Rookie of the Week accolade.

The Carnegie Mellon University football team traveled to Waynesburg University Thursday evening for a crossover Presidents’ Athletic Association (PAC) contest and left with a 51-0 victory. The shutout for the Tartans was the first since 2015. The win evens the Tartans overall record at 1-1 while the Yellow Jackets are now. 0-2. Both teams remain 0-1 in the PAC as the game doesn’t count towards the conference standings.

The Carnegie Mellon University football team opened its 2021 spring season hosting the Wolverines of Grove City College on Thursday evening. The Tartans dropped a 24-14 contest in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) showdown on the turf at Gesling Stadium. The Wolverines are now 2-0, 1-0 in PAC play.

Carnegie Mellon University 2017 graduate Brian Khoury has been signed by the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL. Khoury becomes the first Tartan under the direction of 33-year head coach Rich Lackner to be signed by a NFL team. Khoury signed an undisclosed contract with the Ravens on Wednesday as a long snapper.
