Pitsenberger Named PAC Defensive Player of the Week; Stokey Honored by D3football.com

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University sophomore safety Nolan Pitsenberger (Earlysville, Va. / Albemarle) was named Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Defensive Player of the Week while sophomore Mitchell Stokey (New Philadelphia, Ohio / New Philadelphia) was recognized nationally on the D3football.com Team of the Week for their play in the 18th-ranked Tartans' 10-0 win over Westminster College Saturday, October 1.

Pitsenberger was part of a Tartans defensive effort that forced five turnovers in Saturday night's shutout victory. He recorded the first two interceptions of his career in the win. Pitsenberger's first interception came with 1:40 remaining in the first quarter and he returned it 64 yards for the game's lone touchdown. His second interception came with 9:57 to go in the second quarter.

Stokey tabbed six tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss, forced and recovered a fumble and added a pass breakup in the win. Stokey's sack came on a fourth-and-3 from the Tartans' 10-yard line that went for a 10-yard loss and turned the ball over to the Cardinal and Gray in the closing seconds of the first half.

Carnegie Mellon will travel to Waynesburg University on Saturday, October 8. Kick against the Yellow Jackets is set for 1:00 p.m.
