Holmes Named UAA Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Sophomore R.J. Holmes (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai Stevenson) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week following his performance helping the Tartans to a 1-1 week.

Holmes tied the program's 64-year single-game scoring mark with 43 points in a 103-102 overtime win at La Roche University. He ended the night shooting 19-of-24 from the floor, including a perfect 2-of-2 from behind the arc. The sophomore also added a career-high 11 rebounds to record his first career double-double and added a career-best five assists. Holmes then scored seven points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Tartans' 70-64 setback at Chatham Saturday.

Carnegie Mellon will be back on the hardwood on Wednesday, November 17. The Tartans will travel to North Canton, Ohio to play Division II Walsh University in an exhibition contest with the tip set for 5:30 p.m.at the Cecchini Center.
