Tartans Drop Exhibition Contest at Division II Walsh

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team traveled to North Canton, Ohio on Tuesday to play Division II Walsh University in an exhibition contest. The Tartans dropped a 77-62 decision to the Cavaliers.

How it Happened

  • Tartan junior R.J. Holmes scored five straight points midway through the first half to pull Carnegie Mellon to within a point at 15-14.
  • Two minutes later minutes, the Cavaliers went on a 15-3 run and then built a 37-22 advantage at the break.
  • Walsh maintained its lead throughout the second half and led by as many as 20 before winning 77-62.

Tartans Stats

  • Carnegie Mellon shot 46.7% (21-45) from the floor and 45.8% (11-24) from behind the arc.
  • Junior Jack Stone and senior Josh Berry were the lone Tartans to score in double figures. Stone put in 14 and Berry 10.
  • Senior Kevin Sax finished with nine points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Cavaliers Stats

  • Walsh shot 40.6% (28-69) from the floor and 32.4% (11-34) from behind the arc.
  • Two Cavaliers, Tim Smith, Jr. and Milan Square, scored a game-high 19 points.
  • Garrison Keeslar also scored in double figures finishing with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
