Bio

Jesse Reed enters his second season on the bench for the Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball program in 2020-21.

Reed came to Carnegie Mellon following two-years at Saint Vincent College as a graduate assistant. During his time with the Bearcats he served as the offensive coordinator and individual development coordinator.

“Adding another coach with scouting and recruiting ability is a real boost to our staff. Jesse’s experience in these areas and in developing offenses will impact our success as a team.”

Reed played four years at Division I American University where he was a three-time All-Patriot League selection, totaling 1,401 points during his career and ranked 14th all-time upon graduation in scoring. Reed helped guide the Eagles to the 2014 Patriot League Tournament Championship and a berth into the 2014 NCAA Division I Tournament.

Off the court, Reed excelled academically, as he was a three-time all-academic team selection and was twice named Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Reed earned his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from American in the spring of 2016 and then received his master's in management from Saint Vincent in May of 2019.

Following his collegiate career at American, he played professionally in Luxembourg for Residence Walferdange. He averaged 17 points, six rebounds and four assists per game during the season.

A native of Saltsburg, Reed was a standout player at Greensburg Central Catholic, earning Greensburg Tribune Review Player of the Year honors. He was also named Post Gazette Fab 5 and Second Team All-State. He tallied 1,599 during his high school career.

“The addition of Jesse Reed brings another coach on to our staff with high level collegiate and international playing experience. Our players relate to Coach Reed’s background as a player at American University, and he has had an immediate impact on our program.”
