Tartans Finish Sixth at Wynlakes Intercollegiate

(MONTGOMERY, Ala.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team carded a final round of 299 at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Alabama on Tuesday, and placed sixth with a 36-hole score of 603 (304-299). Host, Huntingdon College won the 15-team event with a score of 575 (289-286). The 36-hole event was played at the par 72, 6,979-yard Wynlakes Golf & Country Club and featured nine teams ranked in the top 25 nationally.

Sophomore Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) led the Tartans with a 148 after firing back-to-back rounds of two-over par 74. Sophomore Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) entered the clubhouse with a two-over par 74 for round two which gave him a 150(76-74).

Freshman William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) carded a 153 (74-79) for the invitational with sophomore Jay Milch (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) ending play with a 79 on Tuesday for a 36-hole score of 159 (80-79). Senior Austin Lin (Los Gatos, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) improved 18 strokes on Tuesday from his opening round to fire an even par 72 and finished with a 162 (90-72).

Carnegie Mellon had one individual enter the invitational, as senior Patrick Tan (Vancouver, British Columbia/Prince of Wales Secondary) finished with a 161 (77-84).

The Tartans will next compete at The Hershey Cup at Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa., April 7-8.
