Tartans in Fourth After Opening Round of O'Briant-Jensen Memorial

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team, ranked 12th nationally, competed in the opening round on Monday of the 36-hole O'Briant-Jensen Memorial hosted by Guilford College on The Cardinal By Pete Dye Course in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Tartans carded a 294 and currently are in fourth-place in the 22-team field on the par 71, 6,743-yard course.

Atop the team leaderboard there is a three-way tie with sixth-ranked Hampden-Sydney College, host and 16th-ranked Guilford and 23rd-ranked RPI all carding rounds of 290 on Monday. University Athletic Association counterpart Emory, ranked third nationally, sits a stroke behind the Tartans with a 295.

Junior Jay Milch (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) and freshman Raymond Li (Del Mar, Calif.) both entered the clubhouse carding rounds of two-over par 73 and are tied for 18th individually in a field of 120 golfers. Raymond Li carded an eagle on hole 10 and birdied two other holes in the opening round.

Junior Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) and sophomore Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif./Lowell) each carded rounds of three-over par 74. It marked a season-low round for Folker, as he also marked down an eagle, the juniors came on hole 15. Junior Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) finished play with a 75.

The Tartans had one individual enter the event, as freshman Brian Li (Beijing, China/Blair Academy) carded a 74.

The final round will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday with the Tartans first group teeing off at 10:40 a.m.
