Tartans finish ninth at Jekyll Island

(JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team finished play at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Sunday. The Tartans ended the 54-hole tournament ninth out of 25 teams after carding a score of 907 (293-309-305) over the three rounds. The three-day event was held on the 6,700-yard, par-72 Pine Lakes Course on Jekyll Island with Guilford College winning.

Senior Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) tied for eighth on the individual leaderboard in a field of 133 golfers with a 54-score of 218 (70-72-76). Junior William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) fired a one-over par 73 Sunday to end the event with a 220 (67-80-73).

Junior Henry Scavone (Birmingham, Mich./Birmingham Seaholm) eagled hole 15 on Sunday. The junior entered the clubhouse with a four-over par 76 in the final round pf play for a 54-hole score of 224 (75-73-76).

Senior Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) totaled 245 (81-84-80) while senior Jay Milch (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) ended with a 266 (89-87-90).

The Tartans will return to the links April 2 at the Golfweek Invitational held at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
