(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Golf Athlete of the Week following his performance at the 2021 Golfweek DIII Spring Invitational.
Li claimed individual medalist honors at the 54-hole event over the weekend in helping the Tartans to a fourth-place finish in the 12-team event. The senior shot a two-under par 214 (69-75-70), to win his first collegiate medalist honor which was played at the par-72, 6,755-yard El Campeón Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. Li led the 60-player field with 14 birdies throughout the 54-hole event.
In eight rounds this season, Li has carded even-par or lower in five. He has a scoring average of 72.1 heading into play this week.
The Tartans will close their regular season at the Wynlakes Intercollegiate on April 12-13. The 36-hole event is being played at Wynlakes Golf & Country Club - Montgomery, Alabama.
