Four Tartans Repeat as Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars; Team Earns 10th Straight Academic Honor

(NORMAN, Okla.) – Four members of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team have repeated as Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholasr as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Seniors Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest), Jason Li (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) and Jay Milch (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) along with junior William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) were all recognized for their play on the course and in the classroom.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically. In addition, they must participate in 40-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 79.0 in NCAA Division III and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

The 2020-21 Tartans were also honored as a team for their academics. The Cardinal and Gray were one of 33 NCAA Division III institutions who received the All-Academic Team award from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The Tartans finished the year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.47, as it marked the 10th straight season the team has received the accolade.

Richmond (Division I), Maryville (Division II), Augsburg (Division III), Cumberland (NAIA), Dodge City (NJCAA Division I), Meridian (NJCAA Division II), and Virginia Union (HBCU) were all named Academic National Champions for finishing with the top GPA in their respective divisions, announced by the GCAA. Richmond posted the highest overall team GPA for all divisions with a 3.85.

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors, a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year. The team combined GPAs of 3.00 or higher earn All-Academic Team recognition.
