Knauth Breaks School Record, Cards a Six-Under 65 in Round Two of Golfweek DIII Fall Invite

(MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed in the second round of the 2021 Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational on Monday. Senior William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa. / Williamsport Area) set the school record for the lowest individual round in the program's history with a six-under par 65 to lead the Tartans. The 54-hole, three-day event is being held at the par 71, 6,635-yard Raven Golf Club at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, Florida.

After 36 holes of play, the Tartans moved up six spots in the standings and are currently 15th out of 24 teams after carding a 292 Monday for a total of 603 (311-292). Emory University leads the field heading into the final round on Tuesday with a 564(287-277).

Knauth will enter the final round tied for fifth individually in a field of 120 golfers with a 141 (76-65). Senior Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif. / Lowell) will enter the final round with a 149 (71-78).

Sophomore Brian Xu (San Diego, Calif. / Torrey Pines) tied his collegiate-low round of two-over par 73 on Monday and has a 36-hole score of 157 (84-73). Senior Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill. / Lake Forest) and freshman Justin Chan (London, United Kingdom) both carded rounds of 77 Monday. Chan has a two-round score of 157 (80-77) while Folker has a 166 (89-77).

The final round is set for Monday morning at 7:30 a.m.
