Tartans Place Third at UAA Championship Match Play, Knauth Named Tournament MVP

(PALM COAST, Fla.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship match play third-place match on Sunday against the University of Rochester and topped the Yellowjackets 4-1. The two-day, 36-hole championship was played at Hammock Beach Resort on the 6,776-yard, par-72 Conservatory Course in Palm Coast, Florida.

Senior William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa. / Williamsport Area) defeated Tom Liu 3-and-2, freshman Justin Chan (London, United Kingdom) and Senior Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif. / Lowell) both won 2-and-1. Chan defeated Lewis Raboy and Lim downed Brendan Frain. Senior Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill. / Lake Forest) won 1-up over Nishant Datta.

Knauth was named Tournament Most Valuable Player after winning each of his matches during the championships.

The Tartans will next compete at the three-day Jekyll Island Invitational at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Jekyll Island, Georgia, beginning Friday, March 18.
