Tartans to Enter Final Round of Jekyll Island Collegiate Four Strokes Back

(JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team continued play at the second day of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Saturday. At the conclusion of 36 holes, the Tartans are currently third with a two-round total of 566 (279-287). The three-day, 54-hole event is being played on the 6,700-yard, par-72 Pine Lakes Course on Jekyll Island with the field comprised of 30 teams.

Freshman Justin Chan (London, United Kingdom) carded a round of even par on Saturday and is tied for eighth individually in a field of 150 golfers with a 36-hole score of 140 (68-72).

Seniors William Knauth (Williamsport, Pa. / Williamsport Area) and Jason Folker (Lake Forest, Ill. / Lake Forest) are a stroke back of Chan heading into the final round with a 141. Folker carded a two-under par 70 with Knauth finishing play Saturday with a one-under 71.

Sophomore Brian Xu (San Diego, Calif. / Torrey Pines) shot two-over 74 and has a 144 (70-74) while senior Joshua Lim (San Francisco, Calif. / Lowell) shot a 79 and has a 150 (71-79).

The final round will be held Sunday, March 20, with the first group teeing off at 8:00 a.m.
