Tartans Begin Play at O'Briant-Jensen Memorial

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed in the opening round on Monday of the 36-hole O'Briant-Jensen Memorial hosted by Guilford College on The Cardinal by Pete Dye Course in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Tartans carded a 298 and currently are in eighth in the 18-team field.

How it Happened:

  • Freshman David Zhang carded a round of one-over par 72 on Monday and is tied for 10th individually in a field of 102 golfers.
  • Junior Brian Xu and sophomore Justin Chan each carded a round of 75.  
  • Freshman Andrew Wang rebounded from his front nine on Monday and carded a five-under par on the back to end the round with a 76.
  • Entering the clubhouse with a 78 in the opening round was graduate student Henry Scavone.
  • The Tartans had one individual compete at the event, as freshman Jay Saluja shot an 81.
