Cohen Honored as UAA Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Senior forward Elliot Cohen (Solana Beach, Calif./Canyon Crest Academy) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week for his efforts during the opening week of action for the Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team.

Cohen started his final campaign with two goals in two games, helping the Tartans to a 1-1 week at the Salisbury Elmer Lord Memorial Soccer Tournament. The forward opened the scoring for the year with a goal in the 11th minute against host Salisbury on Friday afternoon. The Tartans went on to win 2-1 against the Seagulls. Cohen also scored in the Tartans second game of the weekend when he cut a two-goal deficit in half with a goal in the 60th minute against St. Mary's College of Maryland. A late goal for the Seahawks dropped the Tartans, 2-1.

Cohen and the Tartans return to action on Friday, September 6 when they host the University of Mount Union at 7:00 p.m.
