Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer senior Mason Shockley has been selected to receive an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for excelling academically and athletically while showing leadership and commitment to the community. Twenty-one males and 21 females across all three NCAA divisions were chosen as recipients for fall sports.

Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer senior Jason Edmunds has been named to the United Soccer Coaches Region VII team. Edmunds earned a spot on the third team, collecting the first all-region accolade of his career and the first for a Tartan since 2018.

Freshman Brendan Schonwetter earned the respect of the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches by being named the UAA Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Year, sharing the honor with Rainer Osselman-Chai of Brandeis University. The UAA coaches also recognized three other Tartans for the year after the team finished fourth in the league standings with a 3-4 mark.

Men’s Soccer Selected to NCAA Championship Field for 15th Time

The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team received an at-large bid to the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship. The appearance in the NCAA tournament marks the 15th for the program and fourth under ninth-year head coach Brandon Bowman. The last appearance for the Cardinal and Gray was in 2018 when they advanced via penalty kicks before falling in overtime in the second round.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer team traveled to Cleveland, Ohio, to face 24th-ranked Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, November 5 in the last regular season game of the season. The Tartans took an early lead but succumbed to the Spartans by a 3-2 score, finishing the regular season with an 11-4-1 overall record and a 3-4 mark in University Athletic Association play. The Spartans finish 10-3-3 and 5-1-1.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer team collected its third University Athletic Association (UAA) win and second of the week with a 1-0 score against the University of Rochester at home on Sunday, October 30. The Tartans are now 11-3-1 overall and 3-3 in the UAA with Rochester moving to 6-5-4 and 1-3-2.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer team scored the game-winning goal late in the second half to top Emory University at home on Friday, October 28 by a 2-1 score to move to 10-3-1 for the year and 2-3 in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Eagles drop to 5-7-4 and 1-4.
