Tartan Men Swim Past Case Western Reserve

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team hosted Case Western Reserve University on Homecoming and defeated the Spartans in a dual meet, 234-66. The Tartans opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay before winning 12 other events.

Freshman John McNab (Westport, Conn. / Staples) cruised to two victories in the distance freestyle events with times of 9:34.43 in the 1,000-yard event and 4:41.19 in the 500-yard event. McNab led a sweep for the Tartans in both events.

Freshman Erik Feldmann (Yakima, Wash. / West Valley) led a sweep of the 200-yard freestyle, touching in 1:43.46 while junior Justin Britton (Falls Church, Va. / George Mason) led a sweep of the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 50.51 and won the 200-yard backstroke in 1:54.37.

Freshman Mason Loyet (Moraga, Calif. / Campolindo) led a sweep of the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 59.72 while freshman Seaver Dahlgren (Mill Valley, Calif. / Branson) won the 200-yard breaststroke, which the Tartans swept, in 2:11.19.

Freshman Aleksander Tarczynski (Springfield, Va. / West Springfield) won the 200-yard butterfly in 1:53.74 and the 200-yard IM in 1:55.61. Freshman Alex Chiu (Sewell, N.J. / Washington Township) won the 100-yard butterfly in 50.72.

Freshman Yousef Hassen (Redlands, Calif. / Redland) won the 100-yard freestyle in 47.17.

In diving, sophomore Judson Kyle (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal School) scored 316.58 points on the 3-meter board after six dives and 282.37 on the 1-meter board after six dives to win both events.

Next up for the Tartans is a road meet at Grove City College on Saturday, November 2 at 1:00 p.m.
