Kyle, Lessiohadi Honored with UAA Weekly Awards

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving program swept the University Athletic Association (UAA) weekly awards with sophomore James Kyle (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal School) earning UAA Diver of the Week and sophomore Jasper Lessiohadi (Lawrenceville, N.J. / George School) earning UAA Swimmer of the Week.

Although diving wasn't scored for the meet against Johns Hopkins University on Saturday, February 1, Kyle led the men on the 1-meter board with a season-best six-dive score of 318.00 and on the 3-meter board with a score of 333.07. The award is the second of the season for Kyle.

Lessiohadi was part of a relay victory while placing second and third in individual events. The sophomore started the meet with a 23.50 split in the breaststroke leg of the 200-yard medley relay that out-touched JHU by .57 seconds in a team time of 1:32.05. Lessiohadi later placed second in the 100-breaststroke in a season-best time of 56.55 and finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke in another season-best time of 2:06.68.

The Tartans continue the season at the UAA Championships with competition starting on Wednesday, February 12 at the University of Chicago.
