Men’s Swimming and Diving Honored by CSCAA for Academics

The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team was honored by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) with a Team Scholar All-America award as 11 individuals were also named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans.

Carnegie Mellon University men’s swimming and diving graduate student James Kyle has been named to the inaugural Academic All-America® men’s swimming and diving team as selected by the College Sports Communicators. In previous years, swimming and diving was in the at-large group comprised of the following sports for NCAA Division III: water polo, fencing, tennis, golf, field hockey, wrestling, lacrosse, men’s volleyball, skiing, and ice hockey.

Men Close NCAA Championships with Two All-America Honors

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s swimming and diving team concluded action at the 2023 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday, March 18 with graduate student James Kyle and the 400-yard freestyle relay team earning All-America finishes. The Tartans placed 11th with 100 points, for the highest finish since 2005.

Tarcyznski Claims All-America Honor on Third Night of NCAA Championships

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s swimming and diving team continued action on the third day of competition at the 2023 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday, March 17. Senior Aleksander Tarczynski swam to an All-America finish while the 800-yard freestyle relay earned points for the Tartans who now have 100 points and are in 10th place with one day left to go.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s swimming and diving team excelled during the second day of competition at the 2023 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday, March 16. Graduate students James Kyle and Jud Kyle earned top eight finishes on the 1-meter diving board and two relays swam in the finals with one earning a top eight finish. The Tartans now have 83 points and are in eighth place with two days left to go.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s swimming and diving team began competition at the 2023 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday, March 15 with senior Aleksander Tarczynski and the 200-yard medley relay making the finals to kick off the championships with 14 points for the Tartans.

Fifteen Carnegie Mellon University student-athletes were named to a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for Division III, nominated by members of CSC, for the winter season. College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) rebranded to CSC in the summer of 2022.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s diving team had five competitors at the 2023 NCAA Division III Region 4 Diving Championships hosted by Ithaca College on Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25. Graduate student Jud Kyle earned automatic qualification to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships by placing second on the 1-meter board on Friday before winning the 3-meter board on Saturday night.

Tartans Earn Seven Invites to NCAA Swimming Championships

February 24, 2023

Seven Carnegie Mellon University men's swimmers have earned the right to compete at the 2023 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships. Of the seven men invited this year, three were invited last year and earned All-America or All-America Honorable Mention recognition with four freshmen earning their first opportunity to compete nationally. The championships will be hosted at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, on March 15-18.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s swimming and diving team finished competition at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships on Saturday, February 11 placing fourth after scoring 1,192.50 points. Two school records led the evening for the Tartans while diving coach Alicia Gorman was named the UAA Men’s Diving Coach of the Year.
