#15 Tartans Drop 5-4 Match at #11 Kenyon

(GAMBIER, Ohio) - The 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team traveled to Gambier, Ohio on Saturday afternoon and dropped a 5-4 match at 11th-ranked Kenyon College. The Tartans record is now 7-7 while the Lords move to 15-3.

Kenyon jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a sweep in doubles play. The Lords then took the first two points in singles play to seal the victory.

Carnegie Mellon won the last four points of the match with wins at second, third, fourth and sixth singles.

Senior Chaz Downing (Newport Beach, Calif. / Corona Del Mar) won at the two spot by the scores of 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (9), sophomore Ray Boppana (Boxborough, Mass. / Acton Boxborough Regional) won 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (8) at third singles, junior Robert Levin (Virginia Beach, Va. / Princess Anne) won at fourth singles 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (2) and freshman Sam Gibson (Chico, Calif. / Pleasant Valley) won 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (4) at six.

Carnegie Mellon will play #24 Denison University on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. to closeout its regular season schedule.
