Men's Tennis Competes at Oberlin Invitational

(OBERLIN, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team played at the Oberlin College Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Highlights of the weekend include two players with multiple wins.

Junior Ray Boppana (Boxborough, Mass. / Acton Boxborough Regional) collected wins over Tim Cianciola of Denison University and Stephen Gruppuso of Oberlin. Boppana defeated Cianciola 7-6(3); 3-6; 1-0 (8) and Gruppuso 6-3; 7-5.

Freshman Raahil Doshi (Singapore, Singapore / Anglo - Chinese School (Independent), Singapore) also collected a pair of wins on Saturday. He topped Gruppuso as well by the scores of 6-3; 6-0 and was victorious over Aris Jhaveri of Case Western Reserve University 4-6; 6-2; 1-0 (8).

Freshman Matthew Poh (Manhattan Beach, Calif. / Mira Costa) collected a win, as he downed Jordan Phelps of Division II Ashland University 6-3; 6-4.

Boppana teamed with freshman Jonathan Nottingham (Philadelphia, Pa. / Masterman High School), as the tandem picked up a win in doubles play by the score of 8-7 (5).

The Tartans will host their annual invitational on Friday and Saturday, September 27-28.
