#13 Tartans Down Ithaca 9-0

(ORLANDO, Fla.) - The 13th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team topped Ithaca College 9-0 on Sunday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida. The win moves the Tartans record to 6-2 while the Bombers are now 0-3.

The Tartans third doubles team of freshman Jonathan Nottingham (Philadelphia, Pa. / Masterman High School) and sophomore Sam Gibson (Chico, Calif. / Pleasant Valley) gave the Tartans the first point of the afternoon with an 8-1 win. The Cardinal and Gray top tandem of senior Robert Levin (Virginia Beach, Va. / Princess Anne) and junior Ray Boppana (Boxborough, Mass. / Acton Boxborough Regional) won 8-3 and then junior Joshua Pinckney (Atlanta, Ga. / The Westminster Schools) and freshman Raahil Doshi (Singapore, Singapore / Anglo - Chinese School (Independent), Singapore) completed the sweep in doubles with an 8-3 win at the second spot.

Carnegie Mellon won all six singles matches in straight sets with Pinckney making the score 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at six singles. Nottingham then clinched the Tartan victory playing five singles, winning 6-3, 6-1.

Carnegie Mellon will be back on the courts Monday with an 11:30 match against 16th-ranked Kenyon College.
