Tartans Drop Match to Division I Duquesne

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team played Duquesne University 5-2 on Saturday at the Alpha Tennis Center and drop a 6-1 decision. The Tartans are now 2-1 on the season while the Dukes are also 2-1.

The Tartans lone team point came at third singles when sophomore Nicholas Wernink (Glen Cove, N.Y. / Friends Academy) won 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. Sophomore Nadim Motaghedi (Cerritos, Calif. / Whitney), junior Raahil Doshi (Singapore, Singapore / Anglo - Chinese School (Independent), Singapore) and junior Matthew Poh (Manhattan Beach, Calif. / Mira Costa) each forced a third set at first, second and fourth singles, respectively, but fell short.

The Tartans will next compete at Oberlin College on Saturday, February 19 at 10:00 a.m. and then play Division II Tiffin at Oberlin at 2:00 p.m.
