Athletes and Team Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the men’s 2012 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the list. A total of 74 institutions earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.1 or better.

Carnegie Mellon University Associate Head Track and Field Coach Gary Aldrich has been named men’s throws coach for the USA Track & Field National Team at the 2012 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Junior Championships. The Championships will be held in Barcelona, Spain from July 10-15.

CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition with the official sponsor of Capital One.

Erra-Hernandez will be competing in the shot put.

The honor comes after the Tartans finished second at the UAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Sunday, April 29.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s track and field team hosted the final day of the 2012 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships Sunday, April 29. The two-day event was held at Gesling Stadium. The Tartans ended the competition in second place with 149.5 points while Washington University won the title scoring 195.5 points.
