Newby Competes in First-Ever NCAA Championships

(LA CROSSE, Wis.) - Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field junior Josh Newby (Palo Alto, Calif. / Palo Alto) ran at the first day of the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Division III Track and Field Championships on Thursday, May 23.  This year's championships are being hosted by University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Newby competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing seventh in his heat in a time of 9:22.01. His time placed him 17th in the preliminaries as the top 14 advance to the finals.
