Aldrich Named Mideast Regional Coach of the Year

(NEW ORLEANS, La.) - Carnegie Mellon University head men's and women's track and field coach, Gary Aldrich was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as the Men's Mideast Coach of the Year on the men's side.

Aldrich guided the Tartans to their third-ever University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship at the end of February. Aldrich and his staff, associate head coach Tim Connelly and assistant coaches Michael Stark, Jose Rivera and Michele Bradley, were all honored as UAA Men's Coaching Staff of the Year following the meet.

Aldrich and his staff will be coaching six athletes this weekend at the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend in Boston, Massachusetts. The six competing mark the most to participate at the national meet in program history.

This recognition adds to the successful resume of accolades for Aldrich, as he received the same award for the indoor season in 2014 and 2016. He also is a five-time USTFCCCA Mideast Regional Assistant Coach of the Year winner (2008 outdoor men, 2011 outdoor women, 2012 indoor men and women and 2012 outdoor women).
