Tartans Earn Top Performances at Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic

(LEWISBURG, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team sent ten athletes to the two-day Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, junior Liam Walsh (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard) ran a career-best in the unseeded 1,500-meter run in a time of 3:55 placing sixth overall. In the seeded 1,500-meter, junior Evan Yukevich (Tokyo, Japan / American School in Japan) ran a season-best time of 3:52. 

Senior Isaac Mills (Fairfax, Va. / Oakton) and freshman Graham Eversden (Chandler, Ariz. / Chandler) placed 12th and 13th in times of 1:52 and 1:53, respectively. Mills' performance was a season-best while Eversden's race earned him a career-best time. 

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase junior Hunter Hartshorne (Ithaca, N.Y. / Ithaca) took 14th place in a time of 9:22, placing him in the top five all-time performances in school history. Senior Will Mitchell (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham) ran to a second best time in school history in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:29, junior Josh Kalapos (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Mt. Lebanon) followed closely behind finishing just four seconds later in 14:33. Senior Jared Moore (Beaver Dams, N.Y. / Corning-Painted Post) finished in a time of 14:49 in the seeded 5,000-meter invite. 

Senior Aadi Mhatre (Bridgewater, N.J. / Bridgewater-Raritan) ran to a top five all-time performance in school history in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 30:50. Junior Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis. / Kettle Moraine Lutheran) took seventh in the shot put with a toss of 16.50 meters. Miller also placed 11th in the discus throw with a 48.90 meter throw. 

The Tartans will compete next at the Slippery Rock University Last Chance Qualifier on April 18.
