Karee Named CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-America

(AUSTIN, Texas) - Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Matt Karee (Elmira, N.Y./Notre Dame) was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to the Google Cloud Academic All-America Division III Track & Field/Cross Country Team. The honor is the first for Karee, who is in his first year of eligibility, and the first since 2015 for the men's track and field and cross country programs.

As a sophomore, Karee was honored on the third team after maintaining a 4.0 GPA in mechanical engineering after four semesters of work. Last summer he interned for Valicenti Advisory Services while he was a peer tutor for academic development this year on campus.

Karee was injured through the track and field season but was All-Mideast Region in cross country after finishing 32nd at the regional meet for the championship Tartans. He was seventh on the team at the NCAA Championships where the team finished 18th.

Karee is one of four sophomores honored nationally by CoSIDA with two others joining him on the third team and one on the first team.
