Men’s Track Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2020 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the list for the 24th consecutive year. A total of 150 men's teams and 209 women's teams earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or better for the 2019-20 academic year.
Karee, Kalapos and Walsh Named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans

For the first time in program history, three Carnegie Mellon University men’s cross country and track and field athletes have been named College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans. Junior Matt Karee (Elmira, N.Y./Notre Dame) landed a spot on the Men's Cross Country/Track and Field Second Team with seniors Josh Kalapos (Mt. Lebanon, Pa./Mt.Lebanon) and Liam Walsh (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard) being named to the third team. It marks Karee’s second straight appearance on the team after garnering third team recognition a year ago.

Seniors Josh Kalapos (Mt. Lebanon, Pa./Mt.Lebanon) and Liam Walsh (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard) along with junior Matt Karee (Elmira, N.Y./Notre Dame) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field and cross country teams have been honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as Men's Cross Country/Track and Field Academic All-District selections. The honors mark repeat appearances for Kalapos and Karee.

Coach Aldrich’s Olympic Dream Still Alive

Gary Aldrich sat in front of a black and white television screen at his grandparents’ house in 1968 and dreamed of one day marching with Team USA in the Olympics opening ceremony. This year Aldrich, head coach of Carnegie Mellon University’s track and field teams, may get the chance to live that dream after being named men’s throws coach for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Indoor Track and Field Receives 26 USTFCCCA All-Region Honors

The Carnegie Mellon University men's and women's track and field teams had 26 Mideast All-Region honors awarded to its athletes by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2020 indoor track and field season. There are 13 representing the men while 13 represent the women with five receiving multiple honors.
