Tartans Compete at Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational

(YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational on Saturday.

Seniors Fred Dauphin (Brockton, Mass. / Cardinal Spellman) and Dhroovaa Khannan (San Ramon, Calif. / Dougherty Valley) recorded season-best marks in the triple jump of 13.84 and 12.52 meters. Dauphin finished fourth in the event.

Freshman Zahir Saiyed (Fairfax, Va. / Fairfax) along with sophomores Tyler Waters (Louisville, Colo. / Monarch) and Mitchell Waters (Louisville, Colo. / Monarch.) all turned in career-best times in the 400-meter race. Saiyed crossed in 52.52 followed by Mitchell Waters with a time of 53.09 and then Tyler Waters in 54.04.

Junior Marvin Bennett Jr. (Baltimore, Md. / Phillips Exeter Academy) placed 11th the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.11 and 30thh in the 200-meter dash crossing in 22.99. Freshman Noah Lynch (Amesbury, Mass. / Amesbury) finished 19th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.93.

Freshman Bailey O'Malley (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) tossed the shot put 13.81 meters to place 20th while freshman Len Huang (Holmdel, N.J. / Holmdel) recorded a mark of 12.07 meters.

Carnegie Mellon will return to action on Saturday, February 8 at Roanoke College.
