A graduate of Slippery Rock University in 2010, Colorito was part of two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship teams. After graduation, Colorito spent time as the boy's and girl's cross country assistant coach at Aurora High School in Aurora, Ohio.

Colorito went on to earn his master's degree in Physiology and Human Performance from the Center of Excellence for Sport Science and Coach Education at East Tennessee State University in 2012. While enrolled at East Tennessee State, Colorito was a volunteer assistant coach for the cross country and track and field programs where he assisted in recruiting, coached the middle and long distance runners and developed a strength and conditioning program.

Colorito also served as an assistant coach for Milligan College for two-and-a-half years before being hired as the assistant coach at Georgia Southern University in July 2013.

His last stop before joining the Tartans was at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he was the first assistant for both cross country and track and field programs.

In addition to his academic degrees, Colorito is a level one USA Track and Field Coach and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He also works for UPMC Sports Medicine as a rehabilitation aide for physical therapy.
