Johnson Brings Home ECAC South Rookie of the Month Honors for March

(DANBURY, Conn.) - Carnegie Mellon University freshman Piper Johnson (Riverside, Calif./Martin Luther King) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Softball South Rookie of the Month for the month of March.

For March, Johnson hit .432 with a slugging percentage of .614 that included two home runs and two doubles. She knocked in a team-leading 10 runs while crossing the plate eight times on her own. The catcher/third baseman had a hit streak of nine games while recording a hit in 11 of 15 games played. Johnson also stole four bases and was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Hitter of the Week on March 19.

The 5-11 Tartans return to action on April 5 at Case Western Reserve University with a doubleheader slated to start at 2:00 p.m.
