Tartans Train with Naval and Marine ROTC for Team Leadership Development

As the Carnegie Mellon University softball team embarked on the journey of their sophomore season, head coach Monica Harrison worked with the Naval ROTC office at CMU and the Marine ROTC and recruitment office to design a unique experience for the team. The goal was to continue developing a set of standards to which the program will operate on a day-to-day basis that exemplifies the level of excellence we strive to achieve as a program.

The team underwent a 12-hour Team Leadership Development Experience led by Marines and Navy Midshipmen that centered around resiliency in the face of pressure and adversity as well as personal and team accountability. It was a phenomenal experience that brought the team closer together, stretched the limits of their boundaries and allowed them to experience limitless expectations individually and as a team. "We experienced firsthand that we all have a little more we can give," said Coach Harrison. "To excel and take this program to the national stage, we will push each other to give that little something extra...and when we don't have it in the tank, we'll find it amongst the team because, Together We're Better!"

**Special thanks to Captain McKinney - Commanding Officer at CMU's NROTC, Major Paugh - USMC and Executive Officer of CMU NROTC, Captain Andersen - USMC and GtSgt Dodson - USMC for creating and executing an amazing experience that was specifically and uniquely tailored towards our program, its goals and our individual team dynamics.
