Three Double-Doubles Lead Tartans Past Allegheny 81-51

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - Three players recorded double-doubles as the Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team defeated Allegheny College 81-51 in Skibo Gymnasium on Wednesday, November 19. The Tartans improved to 2-0 with the win as Allegheny fell for the first time and are now 2-1.

Sophomore Jackie Hudepohl (Saratoga, Calif./Lynbrook (Colgate)) led the Tartans with 17 points and 15 rebounds, along with seven assists and four blocked shots. She had eight points and 11 rebounds at the break as the Tartans stretched a 10-0 opening-game run to a 46-17 halftime advantage.

The Tartans dominated the glass in the first half and for the game, hauling in 34 boards in the first period as the Gators shot just 13.5% in the opening frame. Opposite of that was the Tartans shooting performance which was 58.1% for the first half and closed at 50.8%.

Joining Hudepohl with double-double stats was junior Lindsay Poss (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) and sophomore Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean). Poss scored a season-high 17 points and grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds, as she hit 7-of-11 from the field and 3-of-4 from behind the arc. Murphy, who had a quiet first half due to foul trouble, finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Senior Chandler Caufield (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) and freshman Kajae Jones (Fairfax, Va./Bishop O'Connell) also tallied double figures in points with 11 apiece.

Carnegie Mellon will be back on the court Friday, November 21 when they host the Golden Tornadoes of Geneva College at 6:00 p.m.
