Tartans Fall in Game Two of John Carroll Tip Off

(UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team dropped a 79-62 decision to John Carroll University in the second game of the John Carroll Tip Off on Saturday, November 13. The Tartans are now 1-1 for the season while John Carroll moves to 2-0.

Senior Leah Weslock (Howell, Mich. / Howell) led the Tartans with 15 points and seven rebounds while fellow senior Caitlyn Clendenin (Bethesda, Md. / Bethesda Chevy Chase) scored 11 points and also had sevenr rebounds. Sophomore Alana Rocco (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Mount Saint Mary Academy) scored 10 points off the bench for the Tartans.

The Tartans struggled to stop Nicole Heffington who scored 26 points for the Blue Streaks, as the home team shot 46.9% from the field and forced the Tartans into 24 turnovers.

Carnegie Mellon shot 35.4% from the field and 46.7% from behiind the arc with sophomore Anika Prasad (Saratoga, Calif. / Saratoga) connecting on all three of her attempts from long range to finish with nine points.

Weslock collected four steals to lead the Tartans while Clendenin had two blocks.

The Tartans will next play Westminster College at the College of Wooster on Saturday, November 20 at 11:00 a.m.
