Fifteen Carnegie Mellon University student-athletes were named to a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for Division III, nominated by members of CSC, for the winter season. College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) rebranded to CSC in the summer of 2022.
Tartans Close Year with 10-Point Home Win; Celebrate Senior Sophie Chao

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball closed its season with a 10-point home victory against Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, February 25. Two Tartans recorded double-doubles in the win, putting them at 12-13 for the year and 3-11 in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Spartans finish with a 15-10 record and 6-8 UAA mark.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team lost a fourth-quarter lead midway through the period and fell to the 22nd-ranked Washington University in St. Louis Bears on Sunday, February 19. The Tartans are now 11-13 overall and 2-11 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Bears are 17-7 and 10-3.
Tartans Nearly Upset #18 Chicago, Fall in OT

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team nearly pulled off a road upset at 18th-ranked University of Chicago on Friday before the Maroons rallied from a 17-point deficit to win in overtime, 84-78. The Tartans are now 11-12 overall and 2-10 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Maroons improve to 19-4 and 8-4.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team hosted 25th-ranked University of Rochester on Sunday, February 12 in a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest. The Tartans dropped the game by a 68-60 score and move to 11-11 on the season and 2-9 in the UAA. The Yellowjackets are now 15-7 and 5-6.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team started the second half of the University Athletic Association (UAA) season with a home contest against seventh-ranked New York University on Friday, February 3. A strong third quarter by the Violets broke open the game as it finished by an 82-50 score in favor of the visitors.

Sophomore Catherine Or recorded the first 20-point, 20-rebound game of her career and the first for the Tartans since 2017, as the Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team stopped a six-game skid with a 79-67 road win at Brandeis University in University Athletic Association (UAA) play. Or also set the UAA record for defensive rebounds in the game with 20 over her career-high 23 boards coming on the defensive end. The Tartans are now 10-8 overall and 1-6 in the UAA while Brandeis falls to 6-12 and 1-6.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team faced its third nationally ranked opponent in University Athletic Association (UAA) play when they traveled to sixth-ranked New York University (NYU) on Friday, January 27. A slow first quarter for the Tartans led to an NYU lead that closed with a 77-52 home victory for the Violets who move to 13-2 overall and 3-2 in the UAA. The Tartans are now 9-8 overall and 0-6.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team hosted Washington University in St. Louis on Sunday, January 22 for its fifth University Athletic Association (UAA) contest of the season. The Tartans rallied to lead late in the game but fell 77-74 to move to 9-7 overall and 0-5 in the UAA. The Bears are now 4-1 in the UAA and 11-5 overall.
