Women’s Golf Places Second at Williams College Invitational

(WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team placed second at the Williams College Spring Invitational on Sunday after firing a 313 to end with a 36-hole score of 635 (322-313). The two-day event being played at Taconic Golf Club which usually plays as a par 71, but this weekend the course was setup as a par 72 with number seven playing as a short par 5, was won by the host Eph women with a 602 after carding back-to-back rounds of 301 Saturday and Sunday.

Senior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) placed fourth individually with a 155. The senior carded a 78 Sunday afternoon after firing a 77 to open play Saturday. Freshman Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) finished a stroke behind Kitahara with a 156. Simpson shot a four-over par 76 Sunday, the Tartans best round of the invitational, and placed fifth.

Junior Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) improved five strokes on Sunday to shoot a five-over par 77 and ended tied for 10th with a 159 (82-77). Freshman Catherine Tianhong Yu (Dalian, China/Walnut) and sophomore Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) both entered the clubhouse on sudnay with rounds of 82. Yu shot 165 (83-82) over the two round while Lui shot 166 (84-82).

The Tartans had one individual enter the invitational, as sophomore Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) carded a 160 (78-82).
