Two Records Fall as Tartans Place Second at Generals Invitational

(LEXINGTON, Va.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team continued play at the Generals Invitational on Monday. The Tartans carded a 304 to finish the invitational with a two-round school record of 604 (300-304) and placed second out of 11 teams. The 36-hole event was hosted by Washington & Lee University and was played on the par 72 Lexington Country Club in Lexington, Virginia.

Senior Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) set the school record for the lowest two-round score by an individual after carding back-to-back rounds of two-over par 74 to finish with a 148.

Junior Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) 150 (75-75) and freshman Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) both shot a 150 over the 36-hole event. Lui carded back-to-back rounds of 75 while Susanto fired rounds of 73 and 77.

Sophomore Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) shot a 156 after scoring a 78 for both rounds. Freshman Grace Chen (Sunnyvale, Calif./Saint Francis) ended play with a 164 (86-78).

The Tartans had two individuals enter the invitational, junior Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) carded a 156 (77-79) and sophomore Catherine Tianhong Yu (Dalian, China/Walnut) finished with a 157 (83-74).

Carnegie Mellon will be back on the links October 14-15 when the play in the Golfweek Fall Preview. The two-day evet is being held at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort's Baytowne Golf Club in Destin, Florida.
