Tartans Win Savannah Invitational; Susanto Claims Individual Medalist

(POOLER, Ga.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team, ranked tops in Division III, finished play at the Savannah Invitational on Tuesday with a 308 and won the 36-hole, 14-team event with a 621 (313-308). The invitational was hosted by Berry College at the par 72, 5,800-yard Savannah Quarters Country Club.

Sophomore Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) claimed the top individual medalist after cardings rounds of 74 and 75 for a 149. Freshman Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) finished a stroke behind Susanto with a 150 (74-76) and placed second individually in a field of 79 golfers.

Freshmen Michelle Cao (Johns Creek, Ga. / Northview) fired back-to-back rounds of 78 for a 156 and tied for eighth individually. Senior Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) shot a 167 (87-80) over the two rounds while junior Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) improved 10 strokes on Tuesday from her opening round to card a 79 and finished the 36-hole event with a 168.

Carnegie Mellon had two individuals compete, freshman Michelle Koo (Scottsdale, Ariz./BASIS Scottsdale Charter) carded a 165 (78-87) while sophomore Grace Chen (Sunnyvale, Calif./Saint Francis) shot a 172 (86-86).

The Tartans will be back on the links Saturday, March 14 when they compete at the University Athletic Association Championships. The two-day match play event is hosted by Emory University at Hammock Beach Resort on the Conservatory Course in Palm Coast, Florida.
