(EAST LANSING, Mich.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team continue to hold the lead following the second round of the 2021 NCAA Division III Championships. The Tartans fired a team score of 308 on Wednesday across the par-72, 5,818-yard Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Michigan. The Cardinal and Gray currently have a 36-hole score of 620 (312-308) and lead the 25-team field by one-stroke over Methodist University.
Sophomore Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) continues to lead the Tartans after carding a two-over par 74 and has a 36-hole score of 149 (74-75) and is tied for second individually in a field of 131 golfers.
Sophomore Michelle Cao (Johns Creek, Ga./Northview) ended with a 76 Wednesday and is tied for 16th with junior Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman), as both golfers have a 158. Susanto fired a season-best round of four-over par 76 for round two. Freshman Denise Pan (Houston, Texas/St. John's School) shot an 81 and has a 36-hole score of 159 while senior Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) ended day two with an 88 and has a 166 entering play Thursday.
Play continues on Thursday with the third round. Simpson will tee off first for the Tartans at 1:20 p.m. Following the third round, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and top six individuals not on one of those teams to compete the final day.
