Tartans Rally for 2-1 Win at Grove City

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team rallied from a goal down to defeat Grove City College, 2-1, on Saturday, September 17 on the Wolverines' home field. The Tartans are now 4-2 on the season.

Grove City got on the board first with a goal in the 23rd minute when Ruby Mattson scored unassisted.

The Tartans knotted the score at 1-1 in the first three minutes of the second half when sophomore Emily Tolmer (Bridgeville, Pa./Chartiers Valley) scored her first career goal off a free kick. Junior Tori Iatarola (West Dundee, Ill./Loyola Academy) sent the free kick from 25 yards out across the box where Tolmer headed it over the keeper.

The final tally of the game came in the 62nd minute when freshman Ryan Casey (Pasadena, Calif./Polytechnic) scored the game winner and her fourth goal of the season. Junior Haili Adams (Kirkland, Wash./Juanita) used her heel to pass the ball from right to left in the box and Casey put the shot to the far post.

Junior Sarah Mahler (Cincinnati, Ohio/Madeira) made two saves to earn her third win of the season.

The Tartans will remain on the road for their next contest when they play Baldwin Wallace College at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20.
