Banner Fall for Student-Athletes in the Classroom

It was a memorable fall for the Carnegie Mellon Athletics Program, as five of six fall teams advanced to postseason play, the basketball and swimming and diving teams got off to great starts, and the women’s golf team earned a number one national ranking. Four teams competed in the NCAA postseason, including the women’s soccer team’s run to the national semifinals, and the Tartans once again finished the fall 16th in the Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings. On top of the competitive success, 104 student-athletes achieved 4.0 grade-point averages (GPA) and more than 60 percent of the student-athletes earned a 3.50 GPA or better.
Adams Third-Ever First-Year Player Honored on D3soccer.com All-America Team

Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer freshman Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) was named to the 2019 D3soccer.com Women’s All-America Team, becoming the sixth Tartan to be honored by the site. The team of 33 was selected from 569 nominations by a committee of D3soccer.com staff, Division III soccer coaches and sports information directors. Adams was selected to the third team.
ECAC Names Adams Rookie of the Year; Struble Named Coach of the Year

Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer freshman Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) was recognized as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Year while head coach Yon Struble was named the ECAC Division III Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year. Joining Adams on the team is freshman Rachel Legg (Kansas City, Mo. / Pembroke).
Tartans End Season in PK Shootout in National Semifinal Against No. 1 Messiah

The 2019 season came to an end in the national semifinals after a 3-1 defeat in penatly kicks for the Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team who tied No. 1 Messiah College, 1-1, after 110 minutes of action. The 25th-ranked Tartans end the year with a 14-5-3 record after the program's first trip to the NCAA Divsion III Women's Soccer Championship semifinals.
Adams Selected to United Soccer Coaches All-America Team

Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer freshman Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) was named to the 2019 United Soccer Coaches All-America Team on Thursday evening when the association announced the 48-player team at the NCAA Championship Banquet in Greensboro, North Carolina. Adams was selected to the third team and is the only freshman to be honored as an All-American in 2019.
Williams Honored on CoSIDA Academic All-America Team for Second Time

Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer senior Camille Williams (Cincinnati, Ohio/The Seven Hills School) was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Women's Soccer Team for Division III. This year, Williams earned selection to the first team after being named to the second team as a sophomore. Overall, 33 women's players were selected from across the nation.

Adams was selected to the first team while Legg represents the Tartans on the third team.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer team swept the weekly awards handed out by the University Athletic Association for women’s soccer this week after the team advanced to the NCAA national semifinals with two victories in Wheaton, Illinois. Senior Tara Durstewitz (Old Bridge, N.J. / Old Bridge) was named the UAA Women’s Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week while freshman Rachel Legg (Kansas City, Mo. / Pembroke) was named the UAA Women’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week, each earning the honor for the first time this season.
#25 Tartans Continue Road to NCAA Championship, Advance to Semifinals on PKs

The 25th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team is going to the semifinals of the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship after winning a penalty kick shootout against 19th-ranked University of St. Thomas, 6-5, on Saturday, November 23. The Tartans advance past the sectional final for the first time in school history and become the first women's team in Carnegie Mellon history to reach the semifinals of an NCAA tournament.

Senior Tara Durstewitz (Old Bridge, N.J. / Old Bridge) was involved in all three goals scored by the 25th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team who defeated 17th-ranked Ohio Northern University, 3-0, in the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship sectional semifinal Friday evening at Wheaton College. The win marks the second time in school history the women's soccer team has advanced to the sectional final, the other coming in 2012 during the program's first appearance in the NCAA Championship tournament.

Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer freshman Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week after helping the 25th-ranked Tartans win twice in the NCAA tournament. The honor is the second of the season for the freshman who was also named to the All-UAA First Team.

The 25th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team won its second round game of the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship on Sunday, 1-0, against Swarthmore College in front of a filled student section. The Tartans are now 13-5-1 for the year and advance to next weekends sectional round.
Tartans Cruise to 7-0 NCAA First Round Win

The 25th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team defeated Cairn University, 7-0, in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship at home on Saturday evening. Freshman Helena Spencer (Warrenton, Va. / Patriot), freshman Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny), and sophomore Stephanie Ramsay (Lake Forest, Ill. / Loyola Academy) each tallied two goals in the win to advance to 12-5-1 for the season.

Four members of the Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer team were recognized by the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches on Thursday when the All-UAA Women’s Soccer Team was announced. Three freshmen and a junior were honored for the fourth-place Tartans who finished the regular season ranked nationally with an 11-5-1 record and an invite to the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship tournament.
