Tartans Close Road Weekend with 4-2 Win at Kenyon

(GAMBIER, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team played its second road game in two days, this time winning on the road by a 4-2 score against Kenyon College. The Tartans are now 2-1-1 for the season.

Facing a one-goal deficit after the home squad scored in the eighth minute, the Tartans equalized with a goal by sophomore Julianne Tippett (Torrance, Calif. / South) in the 33rd minute. Junior Taylor Cammarata (Cary, N.C. / Green Hope) served a corner kick to goal where Tippett finished off a right-footed shot for her second goal of the season.

Freshman Helena Spencer (Warrenton, Va. / Patriot) recorded her first career goal in the 51st minute after dribbling past the defense before her shot. Eighteen minutes later, senior Tara Durstewitz (Old Bridge, N.J. / Old Bridge) gave the Tarans a 3-1 lead off an assist by junior Abby Kuznick (Livingston, N.J. / Livingston).

The Ladies brought the game back to within one goal with a score inthe 77th minute but Durstewitz struck again with less than five minutes to play with a goal following a long ball over the top by freshman Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny).

Junior Carolyn Botz (St. Louis, Mo. / MICDS) earned her second win of the season and made two saves in the 90 minutes of action.

The Tartans return home to face Grove City College on Wednesday, September 11 at 7:30 p.m.
