Tartans Score Six and Blank Washington & Jefferson on the Road

(WASHINGTON, Pa.) - Sophomore Maddy Lui (Basking Ridge, N.J. / Ridge) scored two for the Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team who defeated Washington and Jefferson College, 6-0, Friday, September 20 in Washington, Pennsylvania. The Tartans are now 4-2-1 for the year while the Presidents fall to 1-5.

Lui scored the first goal of the game in the 13th minute and later made the score 5-0 in the 54th minute. Her first stike came off an assist by senior Tara Durstewitz (Old Bridge, N.J. / Old Bridge) who dribbled into the box before finding Lui with a pass. Lui's second goal was unassisted.

Sophomore Daisy Gollis (Irvine, Calif. / Tarbut V'Torah) made it 2-0 in the 40th minute off an assist by junior Abby Kuznick (Livingston, N.J. / Livingston). Less than three minutes later, Durstewitz gave the Tartans a three-goal advantage finishing off a breakaway that was assisted by freshman Nikki Hasson (Torrance, Calif. / California Academy of Mathematics and Science).

The fourth goal of the game came shortly after the whistled started the second half. Freshman Alex Adams (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny) scored her fifth goal of the season on an unassisted play after dribbling into the box to set up her shot.

Junior Taylor Cammarata (Cary, N.C. / Green Hope) combined with sophomore Stephanie Ramsay (Lake Forest, Ill. / Loyola Academy) in the 58th minute for the last goal of the game.

Senior Andrea Sipos (Bel Air, Md. / Bel Air) recorded the win, making two saves in the first half before splitting time in goal with sophomore Skylar Pollock (Parkland, Fla. / Pine Crest) and freshman Olivia Brand (Elmira, N.Y. / Corning-Painted Post).

The Tartans return home to host Illinois Institute of Technology on Sunday, September 22 at 12:00 p.m.
