Bio

Scott Backus joined the Carnegie Mellon University women’s soccer team as the goalkeeper coach in the spring of 2016.

Backus has worked for Evoqua Water Technologies as an HRIS & Analytics Manager since 2017. Prior to taking that role, Backus was a managing consultant for IBM since graduating from Lafayette College in May 2007 with a bachelor's degree in engineering studies and a minor in economics and business. While at Lafayette he was a goalkeeper for the men's soccer team and was named captain and team MVP his senior year.

As a goalkeeper for the Leopards he had a goals against average of 0.87 and a save percentage of .803. The team won the Patriot League Championship in 2003 and 2005 and also competed in the NCAA Tournament in 2003 and 2005.

While at Lafayette, Backus spent time coaching at the NY90 Elite Soccer Camp, the Lafayette College Soccer Camp and with the Lehigh Valley Magic Soccer Club.
