Tartans Start Three-Day Meet at Kenyon

(GAMBIER, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team traveled to Kenyon College for the first day of the Total Performance Invitational on Thursday, December 3. The Tartans swam against Division I schools, Davidson College and University of Pennsylvania, and Division III schools, DePauw University, Kenyon, and Johns Hopkins University.

The 200-yard medley relay team of senior Kira Singhaus (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West), senior Felicia Wang (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley), junior Gillian Crews (Fairfax, Va./Oakton), and freshman Jessie Li (Superior, Colo./Fairview) swam a season-best 1:46.91 to finish eighth.

Sophomore Miranda Ford (Skillman, N.J./Montgomery) was the first Tartan to finish the 1,650-yard freestyle as she touched in 18:00.65 for 20th place. Sophomore Sandra Ho (Hong Kong/Peddie School) was 21st overall in 18:11.79.

The 800-yard freestyle relay team of sophomore Mary St. John (Bethesda, Md./Sidwell Friends School), sophomore Anna Wong (Solon, Ohio/Solon), sophomore Tiana Marrese (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Fayette), and junior Allison Kirkby (West Chester, Pa./Conestoga) touched 11th in 7:48.87 in the team's first effort in the event all season.

Competition continues on Friday with preliminary events in the morning and finals in the evening.
