Women Set 800 Free Relay Record at West Virginia

(MORGANTOWN, W.Va.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming team continued action Friday at the West Virginia University Invitational. The highlight of the night was the 800-yard freestyle relay setting a new school record.

The 800-yard freestyle relay of freshman Tiffany Tseng (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy), freshman Clare Brown (Grantham, N.J. / Lebanon), senior Teagan Goforth (Portland, Ore. / Tualatin), and senior Emma Nicklas-Morris (Winston-Salem, N.C. / RJ Reynolds) set a new school record with a time of 7:38.03.

Freshman Bonnie Wang (Vancouver, BC / Collingwood School) placed fifth in the 100-yard backstroke in a season-best time of 56.44.

Freshman Eva Guo (Flushing, N.Y. / Townsend Harris) tied for ninth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a season-best time of 1:05.18

Nicklas-Morris finished the 400-yard IM in a season-best time of 4:31.63 to take 13th place.

Tseng swam the 100-yard butterfly in a season-best time of 57.34 in the C Final to place 18th overall.

Brown touched the wall in a season-best 1:53.88 in the C Final of the 200-yard freestyle to place 18th.

The 200-yard medley relay of Wang, Guo, freshman Miya Higuchi (Glendale, Calif. / Crescenta Valley), and freshman Mathea Myhrvold (Raleigh, N.C. / Wakefield) finished 10th in 1:46.73.

The final day of competition kicks off Saturday with preliminaries of the 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, and 200-yard butterfly. The 1,650-yard freestyle and 400-yard freestyle relay will also take place Saturday evening.
