Tartans Sweep UAA Swimming and Diving Weekly Honors

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Sophomore Kelli Kuramoto (Los Altos, Calif. / Los Altos) and junior Bonnie Wang (Vancouver, B.C. / Collingwood School) have been named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week for their performances at the Kenyon College Relays on Saturday, October 16.

In her first competition of the year, Kuramoto recorded two different NCAA diving qualifying scores. While placing first out of seven divers on the 3-meter board, Kuramoto tallied 245.45 points after six dives. She followed that with a second-place finish on the same board while registering 400.65 points after 11 dives.

Wang helped the Tartans to three third-place finishes at the Kenyon Relays beginning with a 27.63 backstroke split to leadoff the 200-yard medley relay that finished in a season best 1:50.88. Wang then led off the 200-yard backstroke relay with a faster 50-yard time of 27.48 for the Tartans to finish in 1:50.05. The junior showed her versatility by swimming the third leg of the 200-yard butterfly in 27.28 seconds to help the team to a 1:48.98 time. Wang's last event of the day was the 400-yard IM relay where she covered the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.91 to help the Tartans A relay to a time of 4:16.54.

The Tartans will be in competition at Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, October 30 with diving starting at 11:00 a.m. and swimming events beginning at 1:00 p.m.
