Tartans Swim Past Gettysburg with 13 Event Victories

(GETTYSBURG, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team won its second dual meet of the season on Saturday, November 5 at Gettysburg College. The Tartans won the meet by a 187-75 score.

Top Performances

  • Freshman Savannah Xu took home two more victories in two new events with wins in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:55.69 and the 100-yard butterfly in 56.86.
  • Freshman Annie Wang won both the 1,000-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle in times of 10:44.26 and 5:14.29, respectively. It was the second straight meet Wang won both events.
  • Senior Bonnie Wang led a sweep of the 100-yard backstroke with a winning time of 58.30 and was a double winner with a victory in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:06.63.
  • Freshman Audrey Lambert won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:06.25 for the second straight meet.
  • Freshman Sophie Elliott picked up a victory in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:12.33.
  • Freshman Grace Malinger won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.81 while freshman Eliana Szabo won the 100-yard freestyle in a season-best 53.23. The two traded places in each race with Malinger finishing second in the 100-yard freestyle and Szabo in the 50-yard freestyle.
  • Freshman Audrey Soetanto won the 200-yard IM in a season-best time of 2:11.69 for her second event victory of the season. Last week she won the 200-yard butterfly and finished second in the 200-yard IM.
  • The Tartans set a new season-best time in the 200-yard freestyle relay to close the meet with Xu, Lambert, Malinger, and senior Mathea Myhrvold completing the event first place in 1:37.31.

  • The Tartans will host Washington and Lee University for a dual meet on Saturday, November 12 at 12:00 p.m.
