(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University freshman Savannah Xu was honored as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Swimmer of the Week following her record-setting performance at the Kenyon College Invitational. The honor is the second of the year for Xu and the third of the year for a Tartan swimmer.

Xu set two school records and five NCAA provisional qualifying times (two with relays - the 400 freestyle relay and the 400 medley relay) at the Kenyon College Invitational. In Xu's top-two events, the 200-yard IM and 200-yard backstroke, she placed second at the meet and holds the nation's second-best times of 2:02.89 and 2:00.09, respectively. Her 200-yard IM time was nearly three seconds better than her previous NCAA provisional qualifying time and topped the school record set in 2017. Xu's second school record came in the 100-yard butterfly which she swam for fun, topping the record set in 2015 with a time of 55.86 in the preliminaries. Her time is ninth-best in the nation. Xu also swam all five relays during the meet and helped the Tartans achieve times that are in the top 10 in the nation with the 400 freestyle relay sitting fourth.
